PHP2Shell lets attackers run their own code on an unpatched PHP server without logging in. Our Dubai team patches your PHP runtime, checks whether anyone got in, and hands you a verified, documented fix. We work on WordPress, WooCommerce, Magento, Laravel and custom PHP sites, including ones we didn't build.
What is PHP2Shell, and why is it different?
PHP2Shell is the name for two memory-safety flaws in PHP itself, disclosed on 20 October 2026. They sit in how PHP cleans up when a request runs out of memory. Because the bug lives in the runtime and not in your application, a website with well-written code can still be exposed.
A specially crafted web request can let an attacker execute code on your server, read files, or pull fragments of server memory that may hold passwords, session tokens and API keys. Details leaked before the official patch, exploit code appeared on GitHub within days, and attack attempts were recorded before PHP released its fix.
- 01
No login required
An unauthenticated request is enough to reach the vulnerable code.
- 02
Runs before your code
On Apache with mod_php, the attack can trigger before any application code runs.
- 03
Secrets can leak
Worker memory disclosure can expose credentials that stay valid after you patch.
- 04
Every platform on PHP
WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Magento and custom builds all inherit the risk.
Is your website affected by
PHP2Shell
in Dubai, UAE?
If your website runs on PHP and the server hasn’t been updated since 21 October 2026, treat it as exposed. That covers most business websites in the UAE.

HIGHEST RISK - Apache with mod_php
PHP's own security team rates this setup the most exposed. It should be patched first.
NO OFFICIAL PATCH - PHP 8.1 and older
End-of-life versions get no new release. You need an upgrade or a vendor backport.
CHECK YOUR HOST - Shared & cPanel hosting
Update timing depends on your provider, and the version shown in cPanel isn't always the one serving your site.
OFTEN MISSED - Docker & cloud images
Containers keep the vulnerable PHP until the image is rebuilt and redeployed.
What's included in our PHP2Shell remediation service
Patching PHP is one step. A complete fix also confirms the patch is live, closes the doors an attacker may have opened, and replaces anything that might have leaked.
01 Emergency exposure check
We confirm the PHP version and handler (PHP-FPM, mod_php, LiteSpeed) actually serving your site. The command-line version often differs.
02 PHP patching to fixed releases
Upgrade to PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 or 8.2.35, or install your OS vendor's backported package.
03 Legacy PHP upgrades
For sites on PHP 8.1 or older, we move you to a supported branch and fix the plugin, theme and code issues that come with it.
04 Temporary mitigations
Can't patch today? We apply PHP's interim configuration changes and request filtering to cut exposure while the upgrade is planned.
05 Service restarts & image rebuilds
Running PHP workers keep the old code in memory. We restart every PHP service and rebuild container images.
06 Compromise investigation
We look for web shells, modified PHP files, new admin users, memory-limit error spikes and unusual outbound connections.
07 Credential & key rotation
Database passwords, API keys, payment and SMTP credentials get rotated where server memory may have been read.
08 WAF & server hardening
Cloudflare or server firewall rules, tighter PHP settings and closed upload paths your site doesn't need.
How our PHP2Shell fix works
Triage
You share hosting access. We map every PHP install serving web traffic within [RESPONSE TIME].
Contain
If the upgrade needs a maintenance window, interim mitigations go on first.
Patch & test
Fixed PHP release, service restarts, then checks on checkout, forms and logins.
Investigate
Logs and files reviewed for signs of exploitation since mid-October.
Report & harden
Fix report, rotated secrets, and an option for ongoing monitoring.
Why you shouldn't wait to fix PHP2Shell
Large PHP flaws are scanned for automatically. Your site doesn't need to be a target to be hit.
Attacks began before the patch
An exploitation attempt was logged on 17 October, four days before PHP published fixes.
Exploit code is public
Proof-of-concept tools circulated on GitHub within days, lowering the bar for attackers.
Leaked secrets outlive the patch
Updating PHP doesn't revoke a password or key that was already read from memory.
One server, many sites
Code execution on a shared server can reach every website and database on it.
Not sure if your site is exposed?
We'll check which PHP version is serving your website and tell you, in writing, whether PHP2Shell affects it. Free, and only for sites you own or manage.
